ABOVE THE HOLY BANK

Women and priests are not ordained in the
Orthodox Church because they do not have menstruation

cycles In the Orthodox Church, women and priests
are not ordained.

This is not because women have menstrual cycles
or a feminine nature, or because Christ did

did not institute it during his time.

The reason is purely theological, as all the
the honor of the Priesthood belongs to the Virgin

Mary, who was a woman.

The idea that women are not ordained for reasons
related to their gender is a misconception

popularized by Protestants and now also by
some Catholics.

The placement of the Holy Table is not because
women give birth, as some suggest, but for

theological reasons.
