“Buddhist or Christ — which will you choose?”

A Buddhist monk had heard the rumors circulating about Elder Paisios and decided to visit him. When he found him in his humble hut, he told him that through meditation he was able to levitate in the air. The Elder did not believe him and replied:

“Man was made to walk on the earth.”

Then the Buddhist monk sat down and began to meditate, and after a few minutes he levitated about two meters above the ground. As soon as Paisios saw this, he raised his hand toward him and said:

“Hey, now stay there!”

The Buddhist monk, terrified, discovered that he could no longer move either upward or downward. Elder Paisios then explained to him that the powers which allowed him to do this were demonic, and that he, with the help of God, had neutralized them.
