The Entities of the “Light” in Near-Death Experiences – A Spiritual Warning

Many people who report near-death experiences say they saw a "being of light" that asked them questions. And regardless of how loving and peaceful the encounter felt, we must ask:

How do you know that this “light” or this “being” is Christ, God Himself—and not a deceiving spirit?

They say: “I saw a light; it asked me what I’ve done in my life, what I’ve learned, what I have to show.” But think—would God, who knows all things, need to ask questions like that?

A true Savior does not ask questions to learn something. He knows everything.

So when a so-called "being of light" asks things like:

– “What do you have to tell me?”

– “What have you learned?”

– “What have you done with your life?”

These are not divine questions. They are shallow and misleading—almost insulting to the divine nature of Christ, who judges in truth and knows the depths of every soul.

Be Cautious: Not Every Light Is From God

The Apostle Paul clearly warned us:

> “Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14)

That’s why not every light is the true Light of Christ. Emotional comfort, feelings of love and peace—these are not automatic signs that an experience comes from God.

What the Saints Teach

The Holy Fathers of the Church—St. Anthony the Great, St. Paisios, St. Silouan, and many others—never trusted visions or spiritual phenomena blindly.

St. Anthony used to say to such appearances:

> “I am a sinner. I don’t deserve to see anything. Leave me.”

Only if the experience remained peaceful and aligned with the truth of Christ, would he consider that it might be from God.

Final Thought

You’re right to question these experiences.

A being that interviews you is not the God who reveals everything in truth.

Many near-death experiences are false spiritual illusions, meant to confuse the soul—not to save
