1. ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ ΕΙΣΑΙ ΔΙΚΟΣ ΜΑΣ ΤΩΡΑ... Αντί για μια απάντηση στην αμφιβολία και την ερώτησή μου, βρέθηκα ξανά στην κόλαση και στον Άδη. Οι δαίμονες έτρεχαν κρατώντας λίστες, δείχνοντας τα αμαρτήματά μου και φωνάζοντας: «Μας υπηρέτησες όταν ήσουν στη γη. Είσαι δικός μας τώρα!...» Άρχισα να διαβάζω τα αμαρτήματά μου και όλες τις πράξεις μου, που ήταν γραμμένες με μεγάλα γράμματα, ανάμεσα σε μεγάλο φόβο. Είδα φωτιά να βγαίνει από το στόμα τους καθώς με χτυπούσαν στο κεφάλι. Σπίθες αναμμένης φωτιάς έπεφταν πάνω μου και κολλάνε, καίγοντάς με. Γύρω μου άκουγα ένα φοβερό μοιρολόι, έναν μεγάλο κεραυνό και τις κραυγές πολλών ανθρώπων. Όταν η φωτιά δυνάμωσε, είδα τα πάντα γύρω μου. Οι ψυχές είχαν τρομακτική όψη. Μερικές ήταν ακρωτηριασμένες με τεντωμένους λαιμούς, και άλλες με πρησμένα μάτια. Μου είπαν: «Είσαι σύντροφός μας, (εννοώντας, προφανώς, τον κομμουνιστικό χαιρετισμό), και είσαι υποχρεωμένος να ζήσεις μαζί μας τώρα...» Όπως κι εσείς, έτσι κι εμείς, όταν ζούσαμε στη γη, δεν αναγνωρίσαμε τον Χριστό, βλασφημήσαμε και καταραστήκαμε, κάναμε κάθε είδος κακού, και ειδικά πορνεία, υπερηφάνεια, και δεν μετανοήσαμε ποτέ. Πολλοί αμάρτησαν, αλλά μετά μετανόησαν και πήγαν στην Εκκλησία, προσευχήθηκαν στον Θεό, έδειξαν έλεος στους φτωχούς και βοήθησαν κάθε άνθρωπο που είχε ανάγκη. Όλοι αυτοί είναι τώρα εκεί πάνω, μακριά από εμάς... (εννοώντας, φυσικά, τον Παράδεισο, τον οποίο δεν ήθελαν να αναφέρουν ούτε ονομαστικά...) Φοβήθηκα όταν άκουσα αυτά τα λόγια, και ειδικά ότι θα ζούσα σε αυτά τα τρομερά μέρη για πάντα... Μετά από αυτά, μέσα σε ένα φως που έδιωξε το σκότος, η Θεοτόκος εμφανίστηκε ξανά. Οι δαίμονες έφυγαν, ενώ οι βασανισμένες ψυχές άρχισαν να παρακαλούν με δυνατές κραυγές για έλεος: «Ουράνια Βασίλισσα, μη μας εγκαταλείπεις, Μητέρα του Θεού, σε παρακαλούμε, καιγόμαστε και δεν υπάρχει ούτε σταγόνα νερό για να ξεδιψάσουμε...» Έκλαψε με συμπόνια μαζί τους, αλλά, μην έχοντας τη δύναμη της λύτρωσης, τους είπε: «Όσο ζούσατε στη γη, δεν Με αναγνωρίσατε, μάλιστα Με βλασφημήσατε. Δεν μετανοήσατε για τις αμαρτίες σας απέναντι στον Υιό Μου και τον Θεό σας, και γι' αυτό δεν μπορώ να σας βοηθήσω τώρα. Αλλά ούτε ο Χριστός μπορεί, γιατί δεν μπορεί να πάει ενάντια στο θέλημα του Πατρός Του!» Εγώ βοηθώ μόνο εκείνους για τους οποίους προσεύχονται οι συγγενείς τους και για τους οποίους προσεύχεται η αγία Εκκλησία. Μετά από αυτά τα λόγια, αρχίσαμε να ανεβαίνουμε, ενώ από κάτω οι φωνές των κολασμένων γίνονταν δυνατότερες: «Μητέρα του Θεού, μη μας αφήνεις...» 2. ENGLISH YOU ARE OURS NOW... Around me I heard a terrible wail, a great thunder, and the cries of many people. When the fire grew stronger, I saw everything around me. The souls had a dreadful appearance. Some were maimed with stretched necks, and others with swollen eyes. They said to me: “You are a comrade of ours, (meaning, apparently, the communist salute), and you are obliged to live with us now...” Just as you, so we, when we lived on earth, did not recognize Christ, we blasphemed and cursed, we did every kind of evil, and especially fornication, pride, and we never repented. Many sinned, but afterwards repented and went to Church, prayed to God, showed mercy to the poor, and helped every person in need. All of them are now up there, far from us... (meaning, of course, the Paradise, which they did not want to mention even by name...) I was afraid when I heard these words, and especially that I would live in these dreadful places for all eternity... After these, within a light that drove away the darkness, the Mother of God appeared again. The demons fled, while the tormented souls began to plead with loud cries for mercy: “Heavenly Queen, do not abandon us, Mother of God, we beg you, we are burning and there is not a drop of water to quench our thirst...” She wept compassionately with them, but, not having the power of redemption, she said to them: “While you lived on earth, you did not recognize Me, indeed you even blasphemed Me. You did not repent for your sins against My Son and your God, and that is why I cannot help you now. But neither can Christ, for He cannot go against the will of His Father!” I help only those for whom their relatives pray, and for whom the holy Church prays. After these words, we began to rise, while from below the voices of the damned grew stronger: “Mother of God, do not leave us...” 3. РУССКИЙ ТЕПЕРЬ ТЫ НАШ... (имея в виду, конечно, Рай, который они не хотели даже называть по имени...) Я испугался, услышав эти слова, и особенно того, что буду жить в этих ужасных местах целую вечность... После этого, в свете, прогнавшем тьму, снова явилась Богородица. Демоны бежали, а мучимые души стали громко молить о милосердии: «Царица Небесная, не оставляй нас, Богородица, молим Тебя, мы горим и нет ни капли воды, чтобы утолить нашу жажду...» Она сострадательно плакала с ними, но, не имея власти искупления, сказала им: «Когда вы жили на земле, вы не признавали Меня, вы даже богохульствовали. Вы не покаялись в грехах против Моего Сына и вашего Бога, и поэтому Я не могу помочь вам сейчас. Но и Христос не может, ибо Он не может пойти против воли Своего Отца!» Я помогаю только тем, за кого молятся их родственники и святая Церковь. Vi fuego saliendo de sus bocas mientras me golpeaban en la cabeza, chispas de fuego cayeron sobre mí y se me pegaron, quemándome. What About Our Imagination? What about our imagination? I have noticed that we often treat certain images and visions as though they were photographs — as if what a person sees must necessarily correspond exactly to an objective reality. But is that really the case? If we look at how human beings’ ability to imagine, depict, and visually represent things has changed throughout history, we should ask an important question: How do we know that what we see today is exactly what people in the past saw? And how do we know that we are not sometimes interpreting an image through things that have already been deeply imprinted on our minds — through the media, movies, books, paintings, religious imagery, science-fiction stories, and popular culture? A person may see something mysterious and genuinely believe that the experience was real. But the interpretation of that experience may still be influenced by everything that person has previously seen and learned. This is especially important when discussing alleged encounters with extraterrestrial beings. One striking observation is that these supposed beings never confirm the divinity of Christ, nor do they claim to come in His name. Instead, the stories attributed to them often change according to the knowledge and expectations of the people encountering them. Consider the claims made about where these beings supposedly come from. In earlier periods, when human knowledge of the planets and the universe was far more limited, alleged entities could supposedly claim to come from planets within our own solar system. But as astronomy advanced and humanity learned more about those worlds, many of those explanations became impossible or implausible. The stories then evolved: the beings were said to come from distant solar systems, other galaxies, or places such as Andromeda. This raises a serious question: Are we actually receiving information from an external intelligence — or are we sometimes interpreting unexplained experiences through whatever ideas are already available in our minds? From an Orthodox Christian perspective, there is another question that should not be ignored: What is the spiritual source of the experience, and where does it ultimately lead the person? Not every extraordinary vision should automatically be accepted as divine revelation. Christianity has always warned about spiritual deception and about trusting every supernatural-looking experience without discernment. The appearance of something mysterious is not, by itself, proof of its origin. We should therefore remain cautious, examine the evidence, and — above all — remember that not everything that appears supernatural is necessarily from God.

First of all, I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to be here in Cyprus, the land of holy people. As far as magic is concerned, the situation among the people there is catastrophic. There is no love between people. Abdul Hamid gave the order for the tomb of Mehmed the Conqueror, which was located next to the mosque, to be opened in order to check for any damage and make repairs. The tomb was opened, and at a depth of three meters, an iron trapdoor was found. From there, a stone staircase led down into the underground chamber of a Byzantine church. There, to their astonishment, the workers found a marble tomb containing the embalmed body of Mehmed—identical to the portrait painted by the Italian artist a few months before his death. This fact—that Mehmed was buried within the ruins of a Byzantine church—has been considered by many as strong evidence that he wished to be buried as a Christian and Byzantine emperor, among the other Byzantine rulers. According to these claims, Mehmed the Conqueror may have embraced Christianity at the end of his life—something carefully concealed by official Turkish historiography. From his early childhood, he had contact with Christianity through his Christian mother. It is one of the great historical mysteries how a relatively small number of Seljuk Turks and Ottomans who arrived in Asia Minor between the 9th and 10th centuries managed, within a few centuries, to change the entire ethnic and religious character of a region inhabited by millions—many say up to 20 million—Greek-speaking Orthodox Christians. There are many explanations. Some say it was forced Islamization through violence, while others say it occurred for practical and economic reasons. However, because this process of religious conversion was often incomplete and superficial, a unique characteristic remained within Turkish Islam—one that some consider a heterodox element. Today, this is being increasingly discussed by Turkish journalists and researchers under the term “the religious problem of modern Turkey.” On November 10, 2002, a Turkish newspaper reported that the feast of Saint Nektarios was celebrated inside a Muslim mosque—formerly a Christian church—in Eastern Thrace. Many Turkish Muslims stayed after their prayers to observe the Christian service with great reverence. Similarly, there are reports of Turkish Muslims attending Christian ceremonies, lighting candles, kissing priests’ hands, and seeking blessings from the Virgin Mary. Some Turkish women have even been reported diving into the water during the Epiphany ceremony to catch the cross—an act deeply rooted in Orthodox Christian tradition. Other reports mention Muslims visiting churches regularly, praying, lighting candles, and asking for miracles. Turkish newspapers have even described certain churches as “places of hope” for Muslims. In recent years, there has also been an increase in conversions to Christianity in Turkey, often among people who later discover they have Christian ancestry. Investigations revealed that many of these individuals had ancestors who were Islamized, especially after the Asia Minor catastrophe, and later rediscovered their Christian roots. There are also remarkable accounts of healing sites, such as sacred springs associated with early Christianity, where both Turks and foreigners visit for healing. In some places, visitors light candles, burn incense, and perform acts that are officially forbidden in Islam. Despite this, such practices continue and are even broadcast on Turkish television. One striking example is the pilgrimage to Saint George on the island of Büyükada, where tens of thousands of Muslim Turks visit the church, light candles, make vows, and seek blessings. Some even walk barefoot up the hill to the church, tying threads along the path as part of a ritual for their wishes. Priests are seen blessing Muslim visitors, sometimes even making the sign of the cross on their foreheads. Here is the site of Panagia of Zorochoumbi, also called Panagia of Glossa. It is located about 15–20 minutes from the main road. It lies south of the village of Kellaki, about 5 minutes away. The area is called “Listogonos Mountain,” and it received this name because in old times, pirate ships used to stop there after carrying out raids. The robbers would escape to this mountain to hide, since it was difficult to access. In the past, there was a small village here, which was later abandoned. The inhabitants moved further down. Perhaps this happened because of the raids, to stay hidden, or maybe because of the cold—we do not know. Many ruins remained here, which people called “ruined houses.” Gradually, as people began cultivating gardens in the area, they cleared the land. The first church that existed here was a small chapel, serving as a rural chapel of the village. Some historians date it to the 12th century, others to the 15th century—we are not certain. As we said, this was originally a chapel of Zoodochos Pigi (Life-Giving Spring). Later, the residents leveled the area, intending to use it either for storage or construction. However, in 1976, the metropolitan bishop requested the land to establish a monastery. The local community agreed, along with the priest, and gave the land for this purpose. Thus, in 1976, it became a monastery. Four nuns came from Saint George Domanos, and the monastery began as a communal women’s monastery. Later, the large church of the Holy Trinity was built, which is now the main church (katholikon) of the monastery. It is a beautiful Byzantine-style church. The wooden carvings inside are handmade, dating from around the 1800s. They are remarkable works of art, with symbolic representations such as the phoenix, the vine, and the peacock. These carvings are of great value. The Church of the Holy Trinity was built by the priest of Saint Tychon, Father Kyriakos, together with his wife. Later, other chapels were built, including the chapel of All Saints next to the Holy Trinity. Also, on the first floor of the monastery, there are chapels dedicated to Saint Savvas and Saint Ambrose. There are also many accounts of miracles. A couple once brought their six-year-old child, who could not speak. They stayed overnight at the monastery and prayed to the Virgin Mary for their child to speak. The next morning, at dawn, the child woke up and said, “Mom, I want milk,” even though he had never spoken before. This was considered a miracle of Panagia, and many such miracles have occurred. Another man came recently and said that after praying and repeating the prayer three times for his child, the child’s tongue was opened, and he began to speak. We should also mention the holy water (hagiasma) found here at Zoodochos Pigi. It flows from a rock behind the monastery. However, for easier access, it has been brought to a fountain in front because it is difficult to reach the back. In another case, the Virgin Mary appeared in a dream to a woman who was in the final stages of cancer. She told her to come there, describing the route with turns, and said, “There you will find me, Panagia of Glossa, and my daughters (the nuns) who care for me.” When the woman arrived, she recognized the place exactly as shown in the dream, and her cancer was completely healed. Another woman brought her daughter, who was about to undergo surgery for tumors in her neck. A prayer (paraklesis) was performed, asking the Virgin Mary to perform a miracle. The next day, the girl returned running with her arms open, saying, “I have nothing! They took me for surgery, and there was nothing.” The Virgin Mary had performed a miracle. The girl still visits the monastery and celebrates Panagia with great joy. There was also a nine-year-old child from Russia who had never spoken a single word. After a prayer service and anointing with oil, the child began to speak fluently, as if he had always spoken, with no problem at all. The feast of Panagia here is celebrated on the Friday of Bright Week, the week after Easter, known as Renewal Week. That Friday is dedicated to Zoodochos Pigi. Here, she is also known as Panagia of Glossa. There is also a celebration on Thomas's Sunday. Many people come bringing offerings, often silver tokens, asking for miracles.
