Saint Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvitis

The devil has managed to eliminate himself and make people use other names. Doctors and psychologists often say, when a person is suffering: “Ah, you have a neurosis! Ah, you have anxiety!” and the like. They do not admit that the devil incites and stimulates selfishness in man. And yet the devil exists, he is the spirit of evil. If we say that he does not exist, it is as if we deny the Gospel that speaks of him. He is our enemy, our adversary in life, the opposite of Christ and is called the Antichrist. Christ came to earth to free us from the devil and grant us salvation.
