“My child, God allows pain for three reasons:
1️⃣ To make what is good become excellent
Just as a vine is pruned and feels pain but then grows more fruitful, God allows pain to refine us, remove bad habits, and help us grow spiritually with beautiful fruits. 
2️⃣ To free the soul from small things and bring it to completion
Sometimes pain removes the little unimportant things in us so that our inner life can be perfected. 
3️⃣ One pain can heal great sins
Just as rust or worms destroy what’s weak, pain can “erase” the effects of pleasure-born weaknesses in us.
God gives along with faith, repentance, and patience—all necessary for this healing.
